This sculptural painting is called "Waterfall" and it is an intuitive painting. I started off with having a rough idea of what I wanted a painting to be about which was about earth and the land and how I was going to achieve it. At first I cut the wooden panel into a circle hoping it will be a shape of a globe for the future painting. Later on, I realized how beautiful the circle looked with the parts that were cut off in order to make a circle and so I added it to the composition. As I was thinking about it, it looked more and more of an abstract sculptural composition with some colour compositions that I was going to put on top. It is an encaustic painting with walnut oil that gives the shine to the blues. My main feeling I was focusing on in this project was joy, pleasure and fun with not knowing the end goal which ended up being a land mass with the waterfall that connects the two canvas and panel together. There are also some elements of collage in this painting addicting to the complementary contrast. In doing this project I was aiming for the full recyclability of the work too.
